Breathing Exercises, Moving Qigong & Tai Chi Fundamentals

Class  of 02-24-2020

– Breathing Exercises

– Moving Qigong

– Tai Chi Fundamentals

I post many video clips and other resource materials to help educate people about these time-proven methods. It is usually pretty difficult to learn this material from videos or books, but for some it is another option. I’d rather people would just come to my classes and learn in person. Either way, you can’t buy your health – you need to earn it by putting in the time, effort, resources and/or sacrifice; or some combination of the former.

My goal is to present an education that brings awareness to these time-proven methods. With an intent to de-mystify and simplify explanations, hopefully more people can come to realize that we are all accountable for our own well-being.

Methods to Achieve a Healthier Mind, Body & Spirit

Good health is earned.

Good or poor health always comes at a cost whether in time, effort, resources, sacrifice or some combination of the previous. Genetics and good luck will only take you so far. How we live our lives early on, determines the quality of health later in life.

I post new short videos and other educational items quite often. My goal is to hopefully inspire people to take control of their own health care

Here are time proven methods that work:
– Move your body appropriately within your limitations
– Monitor what goes in your body and come out of your mouth,
– Engage your thoughts and be aware of how negativity affects your health
– Practices of self-awareness, reflection, calming the inner dialogue – such as meditation, tai chi, yoga (qigong), etc.

Journey Around the Sun

Zen Wellness: Journey Around the Sun: How to use mediation and qigong to harmonize your mind, body and emotions with the seasons.

Many of my family and friends have known that I have this passion for learning and teaching of martial arts, fitness/wellness, eastern philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine. I started when I was 16 years old and have been teaching since I turned 19. Now, almost 40 years later I am doing the same, plus writing books, producing charts, graphics, study guides and videos – all pertaining to staying healthy and mentally sharp into our later years. Pursuing an education in how the mind, body and spirit interact, has been one of my most rewarding endeavors. If you are looking for a good read that might ask you to think outside of the modern healthcare box, check it out or ask me more about these topics.

How does that work?

Julius Wolff, an anatomist and surgeon around the late 1800’s, theorized that “bones in the human (and animal) body, will adapt to the stress that they are exposed to.” In other words, bones become stronger if you put them under stress through proper exercise

Watch part 1 (34 minutes) and part 2 (33 minutes) to learn how these exercises have passed the test of time, for improving and maintaining ones level of wellness.

Methods include stretching the spine, relieving stress, increasing oxygen intake and becoming more self-aware.

Yang Style 24

Yang Style Tai Chi – 24 Forms

In 1956 a group of Tai Chi experts, organized by the Chinese State Physical Culture &  port Commission created the simplified 24 set Tai Chi Quan based on Yang Style. This made a complicated form more simple. Today the Yang style is the most popular of Tai Chi system and is practiced by millions worldwide.

Regulating the breath can change our emotions which adjusts the blood chemistry which in turn, effects the internal organs.

Often times, people confuse harder with better, when speaking about health, fitness and well being.

Movement within the 3 anatomical planes, is a another benefit of Tai Chi exercises. These low impact exercises are also very good for managing chronic pain while rehabilitating injuries. Many practice these methods to relax, relieve stress and become more self-aware.
