Good health, fitness and wellness are a way of life; a lifestyle choice.

You are YOUR healthcare program. You are YOUR home gym. Good health, fitness and wellness are a way of life; a lifestyle choice.

In my opinion, the “mind, body and spirit connection” that is so cliché these days, cannot be achieved through a gym or yoga membership, the Peloton, the Mirror, Affordable Care Act or other equipment or fad methods alone.

Reading endless books on health, attending seminars on alternative medicine, traveling to retreats, eating a healthy meal maybe once a week and attending a yoga class once in a while, might be a step in the right direction, but won’t necessarily produce the results you may be looking for.

*You have to do the ongoing work and become accountable to yourself!*

Here are time proven methods that work:
– Move your body appropriately within your limitations

– Monitor what goes in your body and come out of your mouth,

– Engage your thoughts and be aware of how negativity affects your health

– Practices of self-awareness, reflection, calming the inner dialogue – such as meditation, tai chi, yoga (qigong), etc.

Seasons of Life

Sometimes we forget how much our lives are dependent upon the seasons of the year.  Not just what jacket to wear or which food is in season, but rather how our mind and body interact with the cycles of nature. For example, should an 8-year old engage in technical mountain climbing while an 80-year attempts to play football? A teenager can eat non-stop where a 50-ish person can get by on much less.

Of course there are exceptions with various individuals and their level of health and fitness. Do you know where you at in the seasons of your life and how you can be mindful of what you eat, what type of exercise you engage in, what your thoughts are focused upon? The philosophy behind many of the Far Eastern practices of Qigong, Tai Chi and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are all about becoming aware of these aspects and how to balance them within your life.

Hundreds of different exercises, poses, forms, sets, etc. Some of these exercises are thousands of years old. Low-impact and all with various levels of difficultly allow everyone to benefit from practicing. All poses have physical, mental and self-awareness aspects, depending on the individual’s goals and interests.
